Iranian Artist in Residence: Amitis Motevalli
The MEI and CSMS are excited to welcome Amitis Motevalli for the 2024-25 academic year. Funded by the Persian Heritage Foundation, Motevalli calls upon her background as a working-class transnational migrant as the foundation of her art. She has worked as an artist and professor for over 20 years, using her body, history, and knowledge to create dialogues that can impact perspectives and influence change. Her work focuses on cultural resistance and the survival of people, particularly women or femme identified individuals, living in poverty, conflict, and war. Her various projects, publications, and contact information may be viewed on her website, amitis motevalli.
Motevalli will host a masterclass and a panel discussion in the Fall 2024 semester. Please see the “Events” page for further details.
