Please join the Harriman Institute for a talk by Victoria Koroteyeva (Harriman Institute). Members of the radical Islamist group Hizb ut-Tahrir, which seeks to restore the Caliphate, are criminally prosecuted in Russian courts. Extensive trial records and struggles for authority to define the boundary between extreme and moderate Islam document politics on the periphery of the Muslim world. The Russian case offers comparative perspectives on the political construction of "extremism."
